Pine Tree Hill Elementary welcomed Charlie Davis, Miss South Carolina Jr. High School America 2026, to its 4K classroom this week as part of Read Across America Week activities.
Davis read a story to the students and shared a message about the importance of choosing words carefully. Through a book and a related activity about a “wrinkled heart,” students learned how words can cause harm and how kindness can help repair the impact of hurtful language.
School staff said the visit highlighted both the importance of reading and the value of speaking with kindness.
